🧡The Gift Of Hope

Pumpkin has been part of her foster family since 2018, arriving as a tiny kitten with bright eyes and a hopeful heart. She was learning to trust, slowly discovering that gentle hands and soft voices meant safety. In those early days she had many adoption offers, but as she grew, her path became more complicated.
Pumpkin lives with chronic rhinitis — a lifelong condition that brings regular flare‑ups, congestion, and discomfort. Her symptoms are managed with anti‑inflammatories, antibiotics, and a high‑quality diet to help her maintain her strength, but being unwell so often is hard on her little body. She also struggles with anxiety, yet in the familiar rhythm of her foster home — with the people and cats she knows and loves — she feels safe, understood, and deeply cherished.
Pumpkin was originally under the care of another rescue. When her foster mum moved on from that organisation, she was given a choice: return Pumpkin, transfer her to another rescue, or adopt her and take on full responsibility for her care. Because of Pumpkin’s anxiety and her deep bond with her home, the only choice that truly protected her wellbeing was to keep her where she felt secure. Since then, her foster mum has supported her entirely on her own, ensuring Pumpkin never had to face the world without the stability she depends on.
Pumpkin is gentle, resilient, and full of quiet love. She is one of the cats who reminds us why long‑term care matters — and why kindness can change a life.
For those who like to follow Pumpkin’s journey, she is registered with Slaney Veterinary Centre, who continue to support her ongoing care.
